Why don’t men take better care of themselves? If you’ve ever asked yourself this question—or asked it of a man that you love—you might be excited to join Advanced Physical Medicine of Yorkville in recognizing June as Men’s Health Month. It’s true that men are less likely than women to get regular checkups or seek medical help when they’re sick. Sadly, men also die earlier than women and at higher rates from the most common causes of death. At Advanced Physical Medicine we care about all of clients and want everyone to receive the care they need.
Men’s Health Month was created by the Congressional Health Education program to help educate everyone on the importance of healthcare for men. The main goals of Men’s Health Month are to increase awareness and encourage men to receive the early detection screenings and treatments they need. All month long in June, communities across the U.S. will be holding educational and fundraising events as well as sponsoring health fairs, screening programs and other outreach activities.
There are many ways to participate in Men’s Health Month. If you know a man or boy who is need of medical attention, encourage them to learn more about how they can live a healthier, longer life. If you are a man, make an appointment with your physician, dentist, chiropractor or other healthcare professional and get that checkup you’ve been putting off. Other ways to participate include:
In addition, remember that chiropractic care is also a valuable part of your overall health plan. At Advanced Physical Medicine, we’re here not only to help you recovery from sports- or work-related injury, but to help you stay as healthy as possible throughout the year by helping you manage your: pain, weight and wellness.
